KR/WR Jeff Hughley Named Week 2 National Guard MVP

The awards just keep coming for one of the Philadelphia Soul's newly acquired play-makers after a stellar Week 2 performance. Jeff Hughley, as voted by the fans, was named the AFL's Week 2 National Guard MVP after receiving 39% of the combined votes on Facebook and the AFL's official website.

Just to remind you all one more time, the Soul defeated the New Orleans VooDoo last Sunday at The Graveyard 63-62 thanks in large part to the fantastic play-making ability of Hughley. Hughley recorded 265 kickoff return yards (a Soul record), 92 receiving yards and 3 rushing yards to set the team's single game all-purpose yards record with 360 total yards. Thankfully his only blemish, a lost fumble to end the 3rd quarter, didn't backfire as the touchdown scored in response to that turnover didn't affect the outcome of the game.

Other candidates:

Tampa Bay Storm - WR Prechae Rodriguez

  • In a 50-47 victory over the Georgia Force.
    • 11 receptions for 164 yards and 1 TD
Jacksonville Sharks - WR/DB Terrance Smith
  • In a 52-28 victory over the Kansas City Command
    • 4 receptions for 63 yards and 1 TD
    • 3 kickoff returns for 73 yards -> 24.3 average
    • 1 missed field goal return for 18 yards
    • 1 rush for 1 yard and a TD
